One week left before the official release date of Wish The Awakening. Woot! One week before my djinn descend upon you. *insert evil laugh here*
In preparation, I thought I’d give you an excerpt:
I come from a long line of djinn—what you might call a genie. We don’t live in bottles and we don’t grant wishes to humans who discover us. Forget what you’ve learned from your cartoons and silly movies. Our magic is dark. Powerful. Filled with vengeance.
And you can’t stop it.
Before you run away, quaking with fear behind a closet door, understand this: I have no desire to harm you—not personally, anyway. That would be a decision for my master to make.
Yes, I said master. Although we don’t live in the way your fairytales depict, we do have masters. That is, we would if they could only find us.
For millennia we’ve lived among your kind, blending in and not calling attention to ourselves. So have the masters, the descendants of Enki, waiting for one of us to make a mistake and give away our location. On that day, the heavens will darken and the earth will tremble. One of our kind will be enslaved by the knotted amulet of Enki. So says the prophecy.
On that day, the world will change.
If the djinn exposed should happen to be me, I hope you’ll forgive my actions, even though I should be cursed. Whatever destruction I bring about, it won’t be my intention. I will look you in the eye before I kill you, but your death will be at my master’s command. I would weep along with you, if I could.
If only weeping were allowed…
